How To Have Summer That Doesn't Suck (Even If You're Staying At Home) | Guest Post by Carlotta Cisternas

I don't know about you, but I have a traveling soul. I love to see new things and go new places--but that's not always an option. This summer, with various things keeping me busy here in town, there's no big vacation in sight.

However, that doesn't mean summer has to suck! Here's a list of things you can do to keep that adventurous spirit contained.

+ go camping for a night or two--even if it's your own backyard! Sometimes a change of pace is just what you need.

+ get in the car and drive around with no set destination in mind. Pretend it's a great big long roadtrip even if it's only within a ten mile radius of your home.

+ change up your look. Get your hair chopped off or get a piercing or try out a new clothing style--do something daring, anything!

+ leave random encouraging notes tucked into places around town.

+ build a fort, either with sheets inside or old fashioned sticks and branches outside.

+ reconnect with an old friend that you haven't talk to in awhile. Take them out for coffee if they live close by or give them a call if they don't.

+ strike up a conversation with an elderly person and ask them to tell you a story from their life.

+ play in the mud. Go ahead. Just do it.

+ make a time capsule and bury it in your backyard.

+ if it rains, hold out a mug under the sky and take a drink of pure "cloud-water"

+ do at least one thing that scares you. Like someone great once said, "You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it."

okay I'm a bad person and stole a few from here. they were too good not to include.

Have fun and happy summer!

Love,
Carlotta
